St Helen’s Catholic Junior School Academy steps back in time

Collage of staff dressed in Victorian clothing

St Helen’s Catholic Junior School Academy was welcomed to Cardfields to experience the smells, tastes, games, stories, and crafts of a traditional Victorian Christmas in a Victorian country house.

The children had an amazing time stepping back in time dressed in their fantastic Victorian costumes and enjoyed being in the country house. The children had the opportunity to take part in a range of fun activities such as:

  • Learning about Christmas traditions that have been passed on to us by the Victorians
  • Christmas carols and stories – learning about the origin of, and singing along to a selection of carols and songs, taking part in a Victorian Christmas story and playing parlour games
  • Creating traditional Christmas cards and Christmas wreaths using foliage from our gardens
  • Singing Christmas carols around the tree
